“Oh the things you can find, if you don’t stay behind!” As most of you all know I am from Lexington, KY. I moved to Phoenix, Arizona when I was 19 years old. Growing up in a small town where everyone knows who you are and everything you do makes a person crazy. I can't say how refreshing it is to go to the grocery store and be able to get what you need without running into at least 5 people you know or know of.
It wasn't ALL bad in Kentucky... There are many things I miss about it. One being that I was within miles of my whole family. Many people would be glad to get away from everyone. Not necessarily. There isn't a day that goes by that I don't miss them. The things I don't miss. They're countless. Creating this life I have with someone I love is indescribable. There is more to life than your hometown. Everyone at some point in their life should move away... expand your horizons. Even if you do go back at least you can say you've experienced more than just what you've always done. To some people familiarity is comfortable. It's easy. Simple. But for me, being simple, doing the same things constantly, a routine if you will, is boring. Life doesn't exactly go as planned. I have been thrown curve balls, dealt crappy hands, and struggled with many things in just 22 years. But, I truly believe it has made me into the person I am today. Growing up the way I did I learned that not everything is handed to you. You have to chase your dreams in order to make them a reality. And who knows you might even stumble upon new ones along the way. Where is life taking me? I don't really know. But I'm ready for the ride of a lifetime.
